Beverley Knight
Background and Training
I have been working with Adults and Young people for over ten years in a variety of settings. I have my own private practice working with both adults and young people and alongside this I worked with children in the care system, both is residential placements and foster placements. I have experience in working alongside CAHMS (Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service) and counselling in schools.
Since completing my training of 4 years advanced diploma in Transactional Analysis in 2007, I have since gone on to explore other models of counselling and have gained a particular interest in complex trauma and so the past few years my ongoing training has been around trauma.
I have done extensive training to enable me to work with and understand complex trauma and dissociation in both children and adults.
As a qualified clinical supervisor, my areas of interest and expertise also include training and development.
I have teamed up with my colleague Judith Knight to combine our experience in working with trauma, particularly with Children and Young People. Trauma work is a specialist way of working and understanding how trauma affects the brain and inhibits the child’s ability to grow emotionally, physically and psychologically is imperative to the treatment.
My Work philosophy is underpinned by the works of Bruce Perry, Bessel van der Kolk and Renée Potgieter Marks.
